National Engineers' Week
In observation of National Engineers Week, The Washington Post ran a story in its "KidsPost" section on Nate Ball, host of PBS's Design Squad and keynote speaker at ITEA's upcoming conference in Louisville.
See the article at: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/02/17/AR2009021702877.html
It's a great piece - designed to pique kids' interest in engineering and its practical applications. My seven-year-old daughter read it without me even having to ask her. (She was also pretty excited that I would get to see Nate use his "rapid ascender" in Louisville).

More Ways to Connect
The advent of sites for social and professional networking have really opened a door for those who share common goals, such as ITEA members. ITEA created several groups on Facebook about a year ago that have steadily grown in membership. About a week ago, we created a group on LinkedIn as well. We believe that it's important to have a presence where our people are - and they certainly seem to be on LinkedIn - looking for ways to network.
If you're not already a member of LinkedIn, I would strongly encourage you to join - it's easy and free and you'll immediately have access to potential networking opportunities with literally thousands of professional educators.
The link, once you've joined, is http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1787786
The name of the group is "ITEA Educators."
Get busy networking!
